These values are part of our hiring practices — we welcome team members from different backgrounds, experiences, and orientations, helping each other with appreciation of people’s differences as well as their similarities.
Safety
Safe on every site, every shift.
Every team member understands the importance of safety for themselves and their colleagues. At R2 Gaming this is reinforced every day through our policies, new team member orientation, and regular health and safety meetings.
Regular safety audits are conducted. Staff are required to complete workplace and hazardous materials training, working-at-heights certification, and we always have team members certified in first aid.
Hazardous materials are locked away in controlled areas with access limited to a few key team members. All our office and warehouse environments conform to local safety requirements, with safety departments regularly invited to audit our facilities and provide improvement suggestions.
Mother Earth
Lighter on the planet.
It’s one thing to say you care about the environment — it’s another to act towards its protection. At R2 Gaming, the responsibility to care for Mother Earth governs what products we use, our operational decisions, and our leadership to minimize our carbon footprint.
Initiatives we’ve undertaken:
- Converted all office and warehouse lighting from fluorescent to LED, improving efficiency and extending component life.
- Exterior lighting is LED controlled by photocells — on at dark, off automatically at daylight.
- All heating, cooling, and equipment must be high efficiency. Timers eliminate unnecessary heating and cooling when facilities are vacant.
- Washrooms fitted with low-flow toilets and water-saving faucets.
- All bottled-water dispensers replaced with direct-plumbed coolers — eliminating plastic water bottles.
- Policy: only natural cleaning chemicals with low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).
- Electronic components must be RoHS compliant; all repair materials are lead-free.
- Fix-first strategy: attempt repair first. If unsuccessful, harvest re-usable parts before responsibly recycling.
- Comprehensive recycling and waste-management programme — metal, plastic, and electronics separated and sent to a certified recycling processor.
- Wrapping and shipping materials must be reusable. A dedicated warehouse area stores reused boxes and packaging for repeated shipments.
- Paperless office: electronic imaging is encouraged; printed paper uses both sides; non-sensitive single-side waste is reused for notes.
- Service vehicles transitioning to electric and hybrid options as they’re replaced.
Community
Rooted in the communities we serve.
We recognize the value of giving back to and supporting the communities where our team members live, work, and raise their families. Our contributions and volunteer efforts help create stronger, healthier places and a sense of belonging.
R2 Gaming supports community and charitable initiatives through volunteer activities, fundraising partnerships, and direct financial donations — we encourage and support participation in these activities.
Some of the things we do:
- BC Gaming Facilities Charity Golf Tournament — every August, raising funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation. R2 Gaming sponsors teams, provides volunteer time alongside BCLC, and nominates individuals who deserve recognition for their contributions to colleagues or community.
- New Horizons Responsible Gambling Conference — annual event bringing together researchers, policy makers, and industry representatives to share best practices for reducing gambling harm. R2 Gaming sponsors this important initiative each year.
- Customer corporate events — R2 Gaming sponsors customer-led events in support of their selected charities of choice.
- Local food banks — partnering with local food banks to provide much-needed resources, goods, and services.
